John 3:16 reveals the depth of God’s love for humanity. His love is not limited to a select group but extends to the entire world. Because of this love, God gave His Son, Jesus Christ, who willingly sacrificed Himself on the cross so that those who believe in Him might have eternal life.
Romans 6:23 explains the reason for Christ’s sacrifice. Humanity is separated from God because of sin, and the just consequence of sin is death. Jesus Christ, God manifested in human form, bore that penalty on our behalf. Through His death, He paid the price that humanity could not pay, offering freedom from sin and the opportunity to receive the gift of salvation.
Hebrews 11:6 teaches that this gift of salvation is received through faith. Faith is described as “the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). It is by faith that we trust in God’s wisdom above our own, believe in Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, and acknowledge that salvation cannot be earned through human effort but must be completely dependent on God’s grace.
1 John 5:1 emphasizes that salvation is not merely a concept but the beginning of a relationship. Through faith in Christ, believers are spiritually reborn and adopted into God’s family. Christ not only loved and died for humanity but also grants believers the privilege of becoming children of God, brought into fellowship with the King of the universe.
Together, these verses outline the story of humanity: A holy God created mankind in perfection, yet humanity chose to sin. Despite this rebellion, God’s love remained steadfast. In His mercy, He provided a way through Jesus Christ for sinful humanity to be restored—to become holy, righteous, and once again in fellowship with Him.
